Drivecoach Driving School is today one of the largest and most well-established driving school franchises in the UK. Much of our success has been built around the simple insight that, what most instructors want from a franchise is – first and foremost – a regular supply of work. With this in mind, we work hard to achieve a full diary for all our instructors and to keep them fully booked throughout the year.

We only recruit instructors in areas where we can demonstrate an acceptable level of work. Unlike many other driving schools, we never recruit multiple instructors in the same area unless our existing instructor(s) are overbooked and continuously forced to turn pupils away.

As a result, we are able to offer our instructors a two-way contract where we guarantee a minimum supply of pupils in return for their franchise fee.

We offer two quite different franchise packages to accommodate the needs of majority of driving instructors, as detailed below. All prices include VAT.

Frequently asked questions

Question 1 – Do you accept PDIs?

 

Unfortunately not. One of the key ways that we seek to distinguish ourselves from other driving schools is to provide high-quality driving tuition with only fully qualified instructors. Now that is of course not to say that PDIs are unable to provide high-quality tuition and we strongly encourage you to consider joining our franchise once you get your ADI badge.

Question 2 – Do you offer franchises in my area?

 

Most likely yes. As a nationwide driving school franchise we recruit instructors throughout the UK. If we already have one or more franchisees in your area, we’ll first check to ensure there is sufficient local customer demand to support another instructor. Provided our existing instructors are fully booked – as is often the case – there shouldn’t be a problem. If we don’t cover your area – don’t worry – it normally takes us just around 10 days to start supplying you with local pupils. By taking out a franchise in a new locality you’ll also benefit from exclusivity on all local leads and referrals.

Question 3 – How many pupils will I get from you?

 

Assuming that you’re starting with an empty diary, we’d target getting you fully booked within 12 weeks of joining. In reality this typically means supplying you with on average 4-10 pupils per month (on a full-time franchise) until you’ve achieved the number of hours per week that you wish to work. Thereafter, we’ll ensure you remain fully booked, referring new pupils to you on an “as needed” basis to replenish the ones you lose. As a Drivecoach franchisee, you should not be required to undertake any marketing or website activities yourself – that is – unless you want to.

Question 4 – Can I run my own driving school alongside your franchise?

 

Yes, that’s exactly what our franchise packages are designed for. You will remain in complete control of your own driving school. You decide where, how and when you want to work and all monies earned are yours to keep. At the same time, it is good to know that we are always only a phone-call away should you require any advice or support.

Question 5 – How does the pupil-booking process work?

 

We have developed an easy-to-use online diary system which you can log into at any time to notify us of your availability for the days and weeks ahead. New bookings are taken by us either by phone or online through our website, in which case we always contact the pupil to confirm their booking first. Once the booking is confirmed, you will receive a text message with the pupil’s contact details and the time and date of the first lesson.

Question 6 – What business support is provided?

 

Your dedicated advisor will be in regular contact with you to discuss your business needs and how the franchise is performing. We are available by phone 7 days a week should you require advice on issues ranging from car servicing and check tests to financial planning and continued professional development (CPD).

Question 7 – Can I meet up with other local Drivecoach instructors?

 

Most definitely. In areas where we have multiple instructors we regularly organise local gatherings so that everyone in the team gets to know each other. Such gatherings are a great opportunity to discuss any ideas you might have or issues related to your business with fellow instructors in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere of a pub or restaurant.
